Pengenalan: Guangzhou 102

Guangzhou 102 @ Trip Borong China

Trip Borong China Disember 2010

Guangzhou 101: Bukan Kursus Biasa-biasa

Guangzhou 101 bukan sekadar kursus "biasa-biasa."

Modul kedua, "SURVIVOR MODE: WELCOME TO CHINA".

Module terakhir adalah "BACK TO BASIC: BUSINESS 101".

Guangzhou: Part 1

Among Malaysians, Beijing and Shanghai are probably ringing "more" bells than Guangzhou. Therefore, we would like to take the honor to introduce you the metropolitan city of Guangzhou or famously known as Canton.

Guangzhou is located in the Southern part of China, in the Province of Guangdong. The weather is not too hot neither too cold, hence it is known as The Flower City. This world class trading hub is very populous. It is estimated that there are 6 million people residing in the city. Geographically, Guangzhou city is part of the Pearl River Delta. The time zone is similar with Malaysia, UTC +8.

What is Guangzhou famous for? Of course, none other than the China Import and Export Fair or better known as Canton Fair. The international event was first initiated in 1957 and held twice a year, April and October. There is where manufacturers all over China gather to meet up with their prospective clients from around the globe. These time of the year are considered as "peak-season" and hotels rates will increase higher than usual.

Source

Transportation system in Guangzhou city is very well interconnected. Local mostly travels via Metro and Buses. The underground Metro is very efficient, clean, very convenient and a "yuan-saving" way to travel around the city. More on Guangzhou Metro can be found here.

From Malaysia, we can reach Guangzhou by Malaysia Airlines and Air-Asia. The pit stop is of course the modern and lavish Baiyun International Airport in Huadu District. It takes around 4-hour journey from Kuala Lumpur to Guangzhou. Due to the popular demand, Air-Asia has now increased the frequency from 2 to 3 flights travel daily from Kuala Lumpur to Guangzhou, to and fro. The flight ticket can go as low as RM250 (return) and up to RM1,700 (return) for adult. It is wise to always buy the ticket during sale period. Register yourself at the Airasia.com and you'll be notified earlier when they are going to knock down the price.

Side Income Generator

Many moms are complaining that they are spending so little time for the family and staring the bosses' face longer than the would like to. This phenomenon occurs everywhere around the globe. It has been a long forgotten tradition that only daddy goes to work and mom stays at home. No more home cooked meal during weekdays for the family. (even if there's any, very few houses do that) Hence the take-away-outlet, food court and restaurant industries are booming like never before especially in big cities like Kuala Lumpur. Fast paced life has changed the way we live and altered the family value.

Is it possible to have a one-bread-winner in the family? Do you wish to find extra income and quit your job? What is the necessary preparation you need to do before hand-in the resignation letter?

We share some insights on what are the options available to generate additional income for the family and still keep your current job in our Malay blog, http://usahawanborongchina.blogspot.com

Sneak peak:

Souce

Jim Rogers on China

Interesting outlook on China by Jim Rogers, source is here.

"China has a long tradition of entrepreneurship and capitalism. They have been extraordinarily successful several times in history. They are perhaps one of the few, if not the only, country in history that has been great four or five times. They had also been disastrous four or five times.
Great Britain was great once. Rome was great once. China has been great several times. They were in decline for 300 years, until about 1978, when Deng Xiaoping said “this is not working, let's try something new” and they started over. I don't know if it's going to work out, but historically, they do have whatever it takes to become a very successful nation. And the overseas Chinese have lots of capital and expertise.
It may not work. But it's the only large country that I can see on the horizon that can dominate the 21st century."

Jim Rogers is an author, financial commentator and successful international investor. He has been frequently featured in Time, The New York Times, Barron’s, Forbes, Fortune, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times and is a regular guest on Bloomberg and CNBC.

Why are you still here? Why are you still thinking of "going or not going" to China? What stops you from exploring the boundless opportunity in China? Minority has gone, few still considering and many are still clueless with what China has to offer.

Are you selling products with profit margin below 100%? Are you struggling to make ends meet from your business? Would you like to know the wholesale markets available in China? Then, you are the one we're looking for. Change the way you do your business by going to China!

Speak to us today and we'll share with you what we know about business opportunity available in China.

Make "Discover China" as one of your New Year (Muharram 1432H and 2011) resolution. Your experience in China will benefit your business tremendously, Insya-Allah.

Last but not least, don't miss the ship while it's still boarding!

Weather in Guangzhou

Guangzhou weather during its hot season (May-September) is typically like Malaysia which is on average of about 30 Degree C. The cold season starts towards the end of the year till Spring in April. The lowest temperature is relatively equal to the night time at Cameron Highland. It can go as low as 10 Degree C from December to January.

Temperature Curve in Guangzhou (Source)

Rain showers are frequent during hot season. When we were in Guangzhou last July, the weather was very hot during the day and towards the evening, the rain began to start. Since we traveled by Metro most of the time, we definitely requires an umbrella. But the good new is, it's not hard to get one as you can buy it (very good quality, highly recommended) at the Metro station itself for RMB20 (roughly about RM10). Very convenient!

16th Asian Games at Guangzhou, China

Guangzhou 16th Asian games has been officially closed last Saturday 27th November 2010. As the game drawn its curtains down, many said that Guangzhou Asian Games is one "of the best game ever." The host has top the chart and bagged the most Gold Medals - 199.

The historic event took place at Haixinsha Island in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province.

Business Opportunity in Guangzhou

Have you ever been to a place where the price tag of everything is way cheaper than your home country?

If you're from Western Country, majority will experience this if you traveled to the East. Hey, we can be in the same shoes too if we went to China! (Indonesia and Vietnam alike).Your shopping spree in China can actually cover the whole expenditure of your holiday if you know where and what to buy. Just put on your thinking cap, hold your calculator and start shopping!

Almost 80% of those who came to our courses and joined our trips are fresh-from-oven-entrepreneurs. They have capital to invest and in their learning stage to start a business. They are open minded and saw Guangzhou from birds' view, hence seeing everything as an opportunity to make money.

We always encourage them to at least bring some cash equivalent to how much they have invested to join the trip to China. We can ensure the Wholesale Markets in Guangzhou that we'll be showing you can at least generating 200% return on investment (ROI). All you need to do is know your market and do your marketing!

One Russian boy, "accidentally" discovered the great potential of Guangzhou from his holiday when he was 14. Read his story below, courtesy from LifeOfGuangzhou.com.

Although Eugene (Евгений in Russian) is only 29 years old, he already ranks ninth in the list of commercial elites published by the Russian magazine Finans. Surprisingly, he is the only one on the list who made his money abroad, and the place he chose to settle in was Guangzhou, China's manufacturing center.

Eugene's parents were solicitors and both he and his sister majored in law at university. He originally intended to become a lawyer in Russia but his passion for China took him down a very different path. It all started when he was fourteen years old. During the summer holidays he traveled to Heilongjiang Province, an eight hours journey from his home in Khabarovsk. Surprised at how cheap Chinese bicycles were, he bought four bikes that he then resold five times the original price. Seeing so much money, his mother at first suspected him of stealing. This initial trip led to many more and soon this small business was earning him more money than his mother's annual salary.

At sixteen, Eugene had the opportunity to study Chinese for two years at the Northeast Agricultural University in Harbin. Finally in 2004, together with a friend, he started a logistics company in Shenzhen. When his partner decided to leave China in 2006, Eugene moved to Guangzhou to make full use of the city's complete industrial supporting facilities and advantages concerning prices and marketing channels.
Today, his consulting firm has become a bridge between Russian merchants and Chinese markets. With six branches in large Chinese cities such as Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Shanghai, his parents' initial disappointment has given way to a strong feeling of pride.
